Tace Baker is the author of Speaking of Murder for Barking Rain Press. Tace Baker is a pseudonym for Edith Maxwell. Tace is an old-fashioned Quaker name, which seemed fitting for the author of a series featuring a Quaker Linguistics professor. Edith is a member of Mystery Writers of America, Romance Writers of America, Sisters in Crime and its Guppies subgroup, and is on the board of the New England chapter of Sisters in Crime. She is also a member of the Society of Friends (Quaker), as is the protagonist of Speaking of Murder, Lauren Rousseau. Lauren’s sometime-boyfriend, Zac, works in video forensics on a system for which Edith wrote several of the manuals at a previous job.

KIRSTEN LAULAINEN is a Staff Editor for Barking Rain Press. She has been in love with words and writing from a young age, when books such as The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton and the Narnia series by C.S. Lewis turned her into a reading fanatic. At Syth Baker Robles Publishing, Kirsten edited speculative fiction novels, and has also worked as a freelance editor and story coach for YA Fantasy and middle grade fiction. She has written articles for dog lovers about canine care, training, diet, and prevention of behavioral issues. As an intern at the Oregon Zoo, Ms. Laulainen wrote educational articles, and she has also penned short stories and poetry, which have been published at online magazines and websites. Kirsten holds a BA in English from the University of Washington in Seattle and currently lives in Bend, Oregon.

Barking Rain Press is Added to the ITW Recognized Publisher List
Barking Rain Press, a non-profit fiction publisher, announced that it has been added to the International Thriller Writers (ITW) list of recognized publishers. The ITW qualifies publishers for inclusion on this list by verifying that they do not contractually obligate their authors to pay for such services as advertising, sales, marketing, editing, or promotion of their books. Authors who have works published by an ITW recognized publisher are eligible to become members of the ITW.
